Clarify who manages the infrastructure
Domain ownership, hosting expiry and DNS access can become operational problems when responsibilities are unclear. We review the existing accounts and agree who handles each task.
Management areas
- Hosting requirements and provider evaluation
- Domain and subscription renewal tracking
- DNS, SSL and email records
- Authorised access and handover planning
- Migration planning where needed
Preserve ownership
Domain ownership should remain with the actual business. Access and handover arrangements are agreed in advance, using limited permissions where the provider supports them.
Distinguish reminders from payment
Provider prices and renewal periods vary. Fees, dates and responsibilities are recorded separately. A renewal reminder does not itself make a payment; the payment arrangement is explicitly agreed.
Recognise provider limits
Hosting resource limits and outages follow the provider’s terms. Management support is scoped with those dependencies in mind.
