Map the dependencies first
Migration involves databases, email, certificates and external connections as well as files. We identify what moves and what remains separate before preparing the target environment.
Migration plan
- File and database backups
- Runtime, database and resource compatibility
- Checks of forms, login, payments and scheduled jobs
- DNS and certificate changes
- Final verification before retiring the old environment
Protect active records
An active store may need a short maintenance window for its final data transfer. Email accounts and archives are scoped separately if they also need to move.
Preserve addresses where possible
Changed URLs are mapped to appropriate redirects. Internal links and asset paths are reviewed. A domain change can require more work than a hosting move.
Agree a rollback plan
Post-migration checks and rollback conditions are documented. DNS propagation and provider processes affect timing, so risks are planned instead of promising zero downtime.
